Let's begin with the stage setting. I'm feelin' the city-scape with the suspended glowing balls haha, well the glowing orbs that are meant to resemble clouds, how about that? Despite being prominently known for the worldwide hit "We Are Young" which is the most triumphantly, empowering song for the youth of my generation, what turned me off a bit were the off-key notes. If it wasn't for the message I would've called this a personal dud. There's nothing worse than singing a song, a good song off-key. There are moments where I couldn't hear the lead singer Nate Ruess just like Miranda Lambert's performance with Dierk's Bentley. It stands out like a sore thumb. But Artists, as they profess all the time, are only human and have flaws too. If it wasn't for the special affects, the unexpected rain, I don't know what else to say about it. I've seen numerous performances over the years very similar to this one... leaving me confused and wondering why? Why this chosen for the Grammy stage.Then I hear the passage:I feel empowered and strong. Fun seems to pride themselves on songs of this caliber. If it doesn't get you out of your seat for this reason then perhaps it doesn't call out to you. I'm for the underdog and the defeated because that's who I am. Any song that motivates you to pick yourself up and keep going is a winner to me. It has been called "a song about perseverance in hard times" Janelle Monae seemed to like it well enough showing her appreciation and props by giving the group a standing ovation. Rightfully so since she was featured on "We Are Young" and because us Sag sistas stand for works of art such as this. Sag meaning Sagittarius. If you're one of us you know how we feel about it! To add to the popularity of the groups music, "Carry On" is their third consecutive single [from their second studio album Some Nights] to reach the Billboard Hot 100. It debuted at #100 and in the subsequent weeks climbed to #43, where it currently peaks." Catch the whole song here:
