The Amazing thing I feel about his songs is that every time I listen my understanding becomes more clear. The meaning changes. Then I finally listen one time and it all comes together and makes full sense. Upon first listening it sounds mediocre but it's because I have to adjust to his deeply mesmerizing yet familiar sound. Once I do it's like biting into a chocolate lava cake or that 90's candy Gusher. The surprise is the gooey soft center. The more I listen the more I can't stop. It has this hypnotic affect on the listening patterns I form in my mind translated to my ears. Could it be his melodic far ranging vocals or the music he produces with his varying Amazing Team of music men?
It's something in its delivery. No matter what there's always something wonderful and deeply enriching about his music. I like surprises and as a listener that's what keeps me coming back and excited for more.
The Official video for "Adorn" with RCA Records dropped August 31st Same day ALL 3 songs were made available to buy on iTunes.
From listening to “Don’t Look Back” I initially had the urge to dance in this seductive snake like fashion lol. It made me think of a seductive tango or mambo. Maybe this comes from my habit of watching Dancing With The Stars every season. I just love the art of dance and this show exposed all the kinds that fascinate me. Before the show I used to catch it on GPB Georgia Public Broadcast when Dancing Competitions would air on the weekends when the season came around.
Unfortunately though I wasn’t making "sense" of his words but I was sure the song was another sexual fantasy that he so deliciously loves to detail for us. And for me I have two ways of listening to music: from my laptop directly and then using my skull candy ear phones which pick of every detail I miss from listening from the speakers on my computer. After listening over and over from my computer I realized the song was on the presumptuous “dark” side. Before realizing this I'm thinking maybe he’s referring to an expected danger to his Love so he tells her,
"If I don’t make it back before the sun. All you have to do is run. Just promise me you’ll run. Don’t look back. Don’t look back. Don’t look back. And promise me you will run."
To lead her away from that Danger. Heroic.  It's telling a heroic story. He's trying to protect her from something out there  and if he doesn't make it back then "GET OUT OF HERE!" and "SAVE YOURSELF!"  That kind of scenario. Not too far from the truth— But perhaps not exactly. My mind changes to the Danger is him. Personified.
Whatever danger that lurks in him that submerges like a creature of the night like a Vampire or Werewolf. As we all know those mythological creatures from our story book fairy tales or nightmares can’t survive after the sun rises. Maybe he’s referencing the dark side of himself and it’s not pretty folks.
But what can we say for ourselves?
I applaud him for bringing it to awareness and confronting it face to face.
Despite the dark undertones of the song the drama is strongly emphasized with the boom boom boom. I’m assuming is the notorious usage of 808 symphonic rhythms he welcomes and enjoys using in his throwback to the 80’s and early 90’s sounds we remember. Miguel's sexuality is unyielding nonetheless even when it gets creepy, confusing, and you wonder where on earth or sub-earth he's taking us. That side of our minds we dare not tread or dwell in. He seems to unabashedly stroll into that place so many of us would fear and not come to grips with. He must be a brave soul to go to that place and stare it in the face. Not afraid to admit that it exists and it’s a part of  who he is.
Is it me or does the atmosphere give you the same frightful tension as Kanye's Paranoid and Michael Jackson Thriller? Maybe there's some influence there. Miguel is working with a producer of Mr. West so....you know ;) " I feel the night approaching. The moon is calling me. The Horrors I can be. " This sounds like a good scary or thriller song for a movie soundtrack. Or perhaps in one of the popular vampire series on television, such as CW Vampire Diaries or HBO True Blood. It would actually be neat to see Miguel and his band perform this song as a performer at a underground night club where all the attendees are unknowing creatures of the night, including himself. He could pull it off! It would be sizzling ;)
Then the song transitions into a super quick rendition of The Zombies  "Time of the Season"
Instantly I recall when Cirque Du Soleil orchestrated a popular show across the nation commemorating the Beatles with a show called Love a few years ago.  The Theme was like a colorful vision of a Kaleidoscope. This is all part of the same era of Love, Peace, and Happiness.

At the Beginning of "Use Me" when he sings SEDATE ME and then a faint echo reverberates my mind instantly reverts to the songs in the 90's where the singers are noticeably dazed and high, possibly from the music they're producing, getting high, or both haha. Drifting and Floating.  Much like if you are looking through a Kaleidoscope. The shifting forms of shapes and colors the way he plays with the repetition:
Use Me, when you give me control with the lights on I can just let go. Forgive me, it's the very first time. Are you nervous? Can I trust you? Trust Me, while I take this off with the lights on, cuz it turns me on. Are you nervous? Just let me show you how to touch me. I can teach you.
Something hippie yet Alternative in nature from the early 90’s. The classic rock influence is apparent, as usual, which is fantastic. All these influences is what makes his music memorable, mesmerizing, and authentic to him as an Artist. Anybody can sing about the pleasures of being in the moment with another person, and in this case experiencing the desire, anxiety, and timidness of making love for the first time,  but it’s how the Artist incorporates and instruments different genres to create a new sound, something special; that makes all the difference.
It comes together. Really envision and think of the colors of a Kaleidoscope.
The guitar, violin or synthesizer crescendo gives the feeling of the rush you feel when someone you’re about to have overwhelming passionate sex with touches your bare skin and makes you feel this amazing arousing rush. This more than likely encourages further activity. The beat in the background gives a urban bass hip hop vibe that makes you want to dance or “groove” as he likes to do.  Great Start! The responses are Grand from Miguel's growing Fan base. I did read a RT from him and another fan that the songs are like "Avant Garde R&B". I couldn't think of anything better to describe it. He is way ahead of his time and even though it may take listeners a moment to grasp his special sound he is undoubtedly a musical inspiration that our Generation needs to embrace Individualism and Authenticity.
